A 3D modeled chair done using Maya under the Instruction of Professor Shadrick Addy
Process
Modeling was Maya was frustrating yet rewarding experience. My biggest struggles were figuring out how to get my files to save (I'm still not sure it's done exactly right), extruding the curves of the chair, and creating the UV map which refused to save to my computer for a very long time. I feel like my chair ended up slightly different than the one in the tutorial just given the nature of the curves of the legs and arms. Creating the UV map was tricky both in sewing the seams together and in getting it to save which was problem just my computer being glitchy but ate up a lot of time. Over all I am very excited about learning more about modeling and would be interested in taking the time to learn organic modeling for character creation. It seems like a really cool tool both for VR and animation. Something I will need to get used to is the controls. I kept losing my chair to the void.
